Please read through our Terms of Service (TOS) to ensure you understand the necessary steps for purchasing an animal from Moon Valley Reptiles (MVR).
Paypal is the preferred method of online payment; if you wish to pay by credit card, you may do so through Paypal. Checks and money orders are not accepted. Cash accepted only for local, in-person sales within Arizona.
MVR reserves the right to refuse a sale to anyone, for any reason.
If you live in the Phoenix metro area of Arizona, we may be able to arrange a local pickup or delivery.
We ship only within 48 contiguous United States (sorry, no Hawaii or Alaska shipments) because we care about the safety of our animals.
MVR will not ship out reptiles if the weather conditions are outside the range that species find tolerable. Shipping weather must be under 80 degrees and over 40 degrees Fahrenheit at both shipping and receiving locations.
Shipping options are currently UPS Next Day Air or FedEx Priority Overnight via ReptilesExpress.com. This is subject to change at our discretion, but shipping of reptiles will always be overnight, and you will not be charged extra if we choose a different shipping method.
If your order must be carried by a specific shipping company, for example due to the unreliability of some carriers in your area, please inform us at time of purchase to avoid potential complications.
At some locations, local hub pickups are possible so you can pick up your package in the early mornings without the worry of late delivery.
We ship only Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays to minimize delays and avoid the risk of being stuck over a weekend. Holidays are exceptions, and we must verify delivery times with you prior to shipping; delays in contact may mean waiting for favorable conditions if shipping window is not met. MVR is not responsible for carrier delays or mishandling.
For delivery, someone must sign for the package upon the first delivery attempt, or all guarantees are void. Please schedule accordingly!
Shipping costs are variable depending on the buyer’s location, but usually range from $40 to $80. In some instances (purchase price over $500), shipping cost may be waived or a shipping credit applied to lower your cost.
As shipping costs are quite high in the current market, we recommend that multiple animals be shipped together whenever possible to reduce the shipping cost per animal. We are also continuing to search for alternative safe shipping methods to offer our customers lower shipping prices.
All animals are sold with a 10 day limited guarantee, which does not cover injury once in your care. This includes complications such as dehydration and heat stress in animals not properly unpacked after delivery in a timely manner. This also includes local sales, where the hot and dry climate can be deadly to crested geckos. Give water immediately and provide a water bowl for 2-4 weeks (minimum) to ensure proper hydration.
Please notify us at the time of arrival so we can certify the guarantee.
If an animal arrives with signs of illness or injury, we require photo or video documentation within 24 hours of notifying us of the issue. We will assist you in treating the problem(s) as quickly as possible.
If the animal passes away while covered by the health guarantee (see above), we will either 1) refund your payment minus shipping cost (with photo or vet verification) or 2) replace the animal, if possible, with additional shipping costs to the buyer.
If you are dissatisfied with your animal, please notify us upon arrival. We may be able to exchange the animal or give you credit towards a new purchase. You are responsible for any return shipping. No other refunds are given.
Please note that gecko tails are not covered under the health guarantee!
We accept payment plans with a non-refundable 20% down payment. Please let us know how you would like to schedule the rest of your payments and we will work with you.
If you pay in full but the animal must be held due to weather concerns or other issues, we will hold your animal for up to 90 days at no extra charge. However, if you decide to cancel the transaction during that time, we will retain 20% of the purchase price as a holding fee.
Transactions with Minors
MVR is happy to work with parents and their children to choose a new pet. However, we require the parent or guardian to make the final purchase in his or her name.
No holds guaranteed without payment
In the event that more than one party is interested in a specific animal, payment must be given (in person or PayPal) to guarantee your hold. E-mails stating intent to buy must be backed by a monetary transaction. MVR is not required to notify you of sale of animal you intended to purchase but did not secure.
Communication between parties
After a deposit to hold the animal has been placed, if the buyer fails to follow through with a payment plan without communicating to MVR, and does not respond to communications within 30 days, the gecko will be listed as available for sale. The deposit will not be refunded, but all additional payments made after the deposit as part of the payment plan will be refunded via Paypal. If another method of payment was used, it is up to the buyer to contact MVR for refund arrangements.
